Musée des Beaux-Arts + My Favorites
Musée des Beaux-Arts is home to a variety of pieces of fine art. The collection spans from the 17th to 19th century, and works from Corot, Fromentin, Eustache Le Sueur, and Brossard de Beaulieu are displayed here. The museum is also home to some 20th century art pieces, and works by Maillol and Leger are kept here. The museum itself is located in an 18 century Episcopal palace. Musée d'Obigny-Bernon features a variety of artifacts, with the most impressive and important collection being those that pertain to the history of ceramics. Musée d'Histoire Naturelle + My Favorites
Musée d'Histoire Naturelle focuses on ethnography and zoology. The majority of the collection was retrieved by Clement de Lafaille, who was formerly a comptroller of war, but the collection has been expanded since he donated it to the city. Among the displays here are a statue from Easter Island, an embalmed giraffe that was given to Charles X, rare shellfish, and a parade boat that is encrusted with gems, that was a gift to Napolean III from the king of Siam. Musée Grévin + My Favorites
Musée Grévin features dozens of wax figures with depict the history of La Rochelle from the 12th century to the present day. Among the wax exhibits here are a display of the founding of the town by Eleanor of Aquitaine, the seige of the town, and trade with North and South America. Musée du Nouveau-Monde + My Favorites
Musée du Nouveau-Monde focuses on the port's 300 year history with the New World. The exhibits featured here start with the discovery of the Mississippi Delta in 1682 by LaSalle, and finish with the settling of the Louisiana territory. There are also other exhibits here, including one that examines French settlements in the French West Indes, including Martinique and Guadeloupe.
